Summer Capsule Wardrobe

I'd hate to sound predictable and start this like you'd expect but I'm going to anyway... It's been warming up down her in Australia. In fact, the north is going through a heat wave – it sounds like absolute hell. So naturally with the change of season, my mind has been on my change in wardrobe.

Recently I've had a bit of a growth spurt with my style, and I've thrown a lot away, leaving me with not a whole lot of options. So I had to start thinking about collecting timeless pieces to create a summer capsule wardrobe with.

For those of you haven't heard of a capsule wardrobe before, listen up – this may very well change your life! Well, at least your mornings when you dwell on what to wear. A capsule wardrobe is an economic and sustainable way to dress. It's a small collection of versatile clothing that all go well together. Basically, it's the opposite to what the fashion industry promotes.

It's about what makes you feel amazing. And y'know, the trick to looking amazing, is feeling amazing!

Here's how to start thinking about creating a capsule wardrobe:

+ Evaluate what you already have in your wardrobe and write down what pieces you're missing to make it all work together

+ Keep a list of items that would work well in your wardrobe and check the list before you make any new purchases

+ Only buy pieces that you love – if there's a small amount of uncertainty, put it back and walk away

+ Stick to a colour pallet

So this summer, I'm going to start collecting pieces that make me smile. The thing is, I'm a winter baby. And dressing for winter is my favourite kind of style. Summer doesn't come so naturally to me, but I'm learning to love it as I get older.

It may take some time to create my dream wardrobe, but it'll be worth it in the end.
